    kBooks is now TaDa Books

    General

Same books, same sign-in, a new name. Everywhere the app said kBooks it now says TaDa Books: the screens, the help center, emails, printouts and the phone apps, under a new logo.

    • Nothing to do on your side: your companies, settings, links and saved choices all keep working.
    • The phone apps keep working too. An icon added to a home screen before today may keep its old label until you add it again.
    • An authenticator app set up before today still shows the old name beside its codes, and those codes still work.

Tabs that never hide, and report dates in your time zone

    General

When a screen's tabs do not fit, the ones you are not on drop their icon, and then wrap onto a second line, instead of hiding past the edge. A report opened without dates now starts the month in your company's time zone.

The API reference, and a place to try it

    Your account

The whole API, every route, field and answer, is published as an OpenAPI file at /api/v1/openapi.json. Connections > API and webhooks shows its address, with Copy and Download.

To try the API without touching real books, open the demo from the sign-in page and make a key there. Its sample companies are deleted 48 hours later.

    Your bills as a board

    Invoices and bills

On Bills, the switch at the start of the toolbar shows your bills as a list or as a board, and TaDa Books remembers your choice.

    • Four columns: To approve, Overdue, To pay and Paid, each with its count and its total.
    • Each card carries its next step: Approve, for someone who may approve that bill, or Pay, which opens Pay bills with the bill picked.
    • The same search, date range, print and download as the list, and every column pages like a table.

Archive old documents to your own copy

    Documents

Documents lets you archive everything before a date into a zip you keep. The entries stay, marked as archived, and your storage meter goes down.

Your own firm's books are free, and a billing contact of your own

    Your account

On Plan and standing you can name the company that is your own firm; it does not count toward your plan's company allowance. You can also name a billing contact separate from the people who use the books, and read the fair-use lines your plan runs under.

The menu can sit down the left side

    General

Your books menu now lives down the left side by default, leaving the full width for your work. Prefer the pills across the top? Choose that in your profile menu, under General settings > Menu placement; the choice follows you to any computer.

The calendar learns the payee's rhythm

    General

Put on the calendar now reads how often you have paid this payee and proposes the cadence: every two weeks, monthly, quarterly, yearly. The next due date is the first one after today, and the confirmation names it, with a button that opens the calendar right there.

One list for all your clients

    Your account

For accountants and bookkeepers: Clients, at the top of the dashboard, is one row per set of books you can open, on any of your logins.

    • Each row reads the books themselves: bank lines to review, accounts not reconciled, months not closed, suggestions and requests waiting, cash.
    • A status of Needs attention, Watch, On track or Quiet, with the reasons on hover; every count is a door into that work.
    • It follows the groups you arranged on the dashboard, and can be where you land when you sign in.

Letterheads and business cards, designed from your own facts

    General

Stationery, under Settings > Branding, designs a letterhead or a business card from the company's name, address, phone, email, website and logo. Change a fact and every design follows.

    • Start from a ready design or a blank page, move the blocks where you want them, and pick one of eight typefaces.
    • View shows the paper as it prints; Print and PDF produce it at exact size, cards with bleed and crop marks.
    • The default letterhead heads your customer statements and the year-end package cover.
    • List your licenses and registrations under Company; they print on invoices, estimates and purchase orders, and the designer gains a Licenses block.

Requests between you and your accountant

    General

Your accountant can now ask for a receipt or an explanation from the entry it is about, and you answer in place.

    • Open any entry and press Ask the client; the title is proposed from the entry, with a due date a week out.
    • Home > Requests, beside Calendar, lists what is waiting on the client, what came back, and what is overdue.
    • Answer with words or a document; a document you hand over attaches itself to the entry.
    • The Overview shows a Requests card while anything is open.

Week and Day views on the calendar

    General

The company calendar now shows a week or a single day as well as the month, and a reminder lands on the month it belongs to.

The year-end package, and a trial balance your tax software imports

    Reports

Taxes > Tax has a Year-end package that gathers the statements, the trial balance, the general ledger and the supporting schedules into one download, opening on your default letterhead. The trial balance download menu gained layouts that Lacerte and UltraTax import directly, plus a sheet to paste into Drake.

Money between your companies, without any setup

    Banking

Paying one of your companies from another used to need accounts set up on both sides. Now a transfer, a check or a deposit to a sister company creates the matching entry over there, shows its pair on both entries, and can be undone in one click. Bank and card accounts sit in one section, grouped the way you choose.

Save is for a change, and a change can be put back

    Banking

In the banking rules window, Save lights up only when something changed, and Revert puts a rule back the way it was. A rule opens as itself, not as the list.

Writing off bad debt, and sales tax on a cash basis

    Invoices and bills

An invoice that will never be paid can be written off: the receivable is erased, the loss goes to an expense account, and where the state allows it the sales tax comes back on your next return. Cash-basis books now report sales tax when the money arrives.

Every filled For-Review row says what filled it

    Banking

A bank line that arrived already categorized now says why: the rule that matched, the payee's history, or your last choice. The feed also stopped calling a wire a transfer, and sees the real transfer when there is one.
